One of the definitions in the dictionary is;
One of bodily or mental tensions resulting from factors that tend to alter an existent equilibrium …..
Equilibrium…. beautiful word…I understand it to mean a state of harmony… in balance.
We strive to stay in balance across the spectrum of our lives, tough as it may be. Balance comes and goes.
We know that feeling, state of harmony, and when that is disrupted we look to put ourselves back into balance.
Given that balance is fluid, how do we try to restore oneself to a state of yes; equilibrium?
Everyone has there own personal stress factors, and then there is the collective stress that we endure, as a nation, as a body of humanity on this magnificent planet.
The personal stress may be the easiest to re adjust.. for the most part we can control that. Or at least mitigate the factors that cause this disturbance.
For example,
When the seasons change, from humid to dry, the skin reacts. Dry, itchy flaking skin…. what do we do? We bring out the lubrication. Massaging the skin with a lubricant helps mitigate the dryness, bring the skin back to a state of harmony.
Not so easy with the subtle large picture. We are often at the effect of too much information… too much negative information… and we are unable to disconnect from this endless stream.
I think of this as layers …. layer upon layer of caustic and toxic waste.
Subtle or not so subtle stress factors, that seem beyond our control.
Of course, as a yogi I would say meditate meditate meditate.
As a human being I know that is not practical at all times for all beings.
Back to the toolbox of life…what do you have in your personal toolbox to mitigate disharmony.?
Getting enough peaceful sleep, eating right, exercising, turning off the news, limiting media input. Nourish yourself.
Yes, we are all stressed out, but remember balance is fluid until we are all enlightened beings!
On this journey of life balance comes and goes… and we have to constantly strive to restore one’s equilibrium.
Nurture, nurture, nurture
Whatever that takes for you
Be vigilant. Address your needs. Examine that thought pattern…. be still.
Explore oneself
Renew and restore
Be compassionate with yourself!
Open your heart to you!
Be mindful, pay attention, take care of self so that you can take care of others.
