This will be a continuation of the stress blog… round two !
I constantly refer to the tool box , that personal treasure chest we have buried within, hopefully that we can turn to when we need it.
Coping mechanisms seem to be inherent in all human beings, perhaps learned from childhood or acquired in our journey, hopefully there when you need to dig deep.
We can be exposed to positive tools through a variety of sources.
I came to the tool box via my teacher training as a yogi, it has been an invaluable go to list and guide when I need the most.
Way back in my training I was introduced to yoga nidra. This ancient technique is a conscious sleep, or period of relaxation.
Usually consisting of a guided meditation, where you are in recline position, bringing awareness to the 64 points of the body.
Time wise it can be anywhere from 20 mins to 40 mins or more. Which makes it super efficient for the busy lives we lead.
It is a conscious sleep.
We all seem to be sleep deprived, which adds to the load of stress on the body. Practicing yoga nidra is a gift to oneself to undo some of the tension that builds up.
There are I presume many versions available on the web. Personally I have been using my teachers recording for a long time.
Lucky for all of us yogarupa rod stryker just released an app called sanctuary.
I haven’t explored all of it yet but there is both a short and a long version of yoga nidra on this.
It is so convenient to have on your phone , available at all times…. check it out from the App Store.
As we move through life, no matter our circumstance, that tool box will be needed. The more you have in their the more resilient you can become.
Offered with love light and gratitude.
